Yep... this is it... my solid '69 Cutlass Southern wonder car... got plans for this one... they just haven't really materialized yet. This car was basically free... well actually the 1980 Ford F100 that I traded for it was... fellow gave me that truck had a nearly ragged to death 300 I-6 and was just a base model longbed... what it had going for it was that it was actually fairly solid especially the bed, having had a camper shell on it for many years. Well anyways... when the truck wasn't driveable anymore (not any distances... I could still drive it around town) the guy who was a friend of mine just gave it to me. Well I already had my '63 Chevy truck so I didn't really need it as a truck... so I didn't want to put the money in it to get it going again... and finally (after much persuasion) was able to trade it for this nearly rust-free '69 Cutlass (albeit the original 350 no longer ran and that is the transmission that you see in the trunk (not original because car was originally a manual trans car I've been told... never personally verified it). The good points are the body and the dash. Body is quite straight and rust free... would not take very much work for a good paint job. The dash is perfect... some strange element of nature must have protected my dash pad because it is still factory soft without a single crack after sitting outside for who know's how many years... not trusting to this element of nature to continue to protect it... I now have it fully covered by towells and such. Oh and it has a factory tick tock tach too... and the dash itself is good and has never been cut. The drivetrain and the rest of the interior present my major problems with this car. While I think the door panels are fair... the rest of the interior is either rough or missing. The front buckets need recovered... the kick panels were looking a little rough (been kicked I think ;-) ) the back seat needs a recover... no headliner... don't even think the bows are there anymore... no central console at all... of course I guess that supports the theory that it was a manual car (and the tranny tunnell is a bit hacked on top too). So if anybody has a cheap console to sell me... write to me before I have to do something drastic like modify the '73 to '77 or G-body consoles I have sitting around. I also have another hood I'll probably use it is gilled... with one chrome gill on each side of it... and is flatter... it doesn't have the bulges like the '69 hood has... I think I like it better... if somebody can Identify what it is... or if I'd have any problems using it... write and let me know. Email is zcwp2@imail.etsu.edu.
