1981 Datsun 210 Beater/Pizza Car
Here's the hundred dollar wonder... aka my pizza car... without a doubt the ugliest
thing with four wheels I have ever owned... was red with peace signs etc. when I got
it so I painted it krylon yellow and black. Keeping with the ricer theme... I figure
that that black stripe must net me at least 5 or 10 hp! Considering the h@%l it has
obviously been through in it's life I will say that the engine still runs remarkably well
and brings in nearly 40 mpg on the highway (when you can get it to highway speeds...
its just a 4 spd after all). I have uncaringly delivered pizza in it for well over 6 months
now which completely justifies the purchase price as it gets better than twice the gas
mileage of the previous pizza car a 283V8 powered Chevy truck. In the process of
delivering I've managed to rip reverse completely out of it (its really not as bad as you
think... lots of hills around here... I just have to think before I park). Wrecked it once...
went offroading in a slick curve doing about 45... bounced off a tree and a few shrubs...
no noticeable damage other than it now pulls to the right and wears tires. I keep it parked
at work most of the time... as I have too many cars parked at home as it is... that
and I don't really care to admit owning it ;-) so I just leave it at work... so if for some
reason... you want to see him... you can generally find him on the side of 11-E in Jonesborough
Tennessee in front of the Papa Johns... if you want to steal it let me know first so I can
put full coverage on it... and I'll even see if I can rustle up a spare set of keys ;-)
just kidding... in the future I may see if I can find a little Datsun pickup... or maybe an
older 210 or 2100 or something to drop that motor in.
note the two different tail light lenses... grin...
there's my '73 98 and '65 Pontiac looking forelorn in the background...
